Copyright Statement and Usage of the FirstView Gallery

Membership and use of the FirstView Gallery is free, and no rights are conferred by the acceptance of any registration. In particular it is not possible to guarantee the long-term storage of any image.

This Gallery is NOT an official AP resource and is intended solely for the hosting of images for submission to the Amateur Photographer Forum's FirstView Project, and its facilities are not to be used for other purposes. Images uploaded should not be of a pornographic nature, racially offensive, defamatory, or illegal. The administrators of the site reserve the right to remove any images that they feel breach any of these conditions, and if necessary to terminate the membership of anyone misusing the site.

The gallery may be browsed freely by registered members and others. Comment facilities and such like are also available to be used. However, once again the administrators reserve the right to edit or delete any content they feel is inappropriate. Comments should be in keeping with the AP Forum Rules and Guidelines.

The site's motivating purpose is to provide an archive for the FirstView project for the foreseeable future. However, members may delete their images at any time. Furthermore, FirstView participants are under no obligation to use the gallery for hosting their images if they do not want them to be part of the archive. Images uploaded to the AP FirstView Gallery site and the copyrights thereof remain the property of their owners. You should not upload any image unless you are the copyright holder, or have their express permission. Normally, given the nature of FirstView, the former should apply. You may 'hot-link' your images to the AP FirstView threads, naturally, but if you wish to hot-link them anywhere else we ask that you also provide a link back to the gallery or to the FirstView forum in the same location.

Please remember that the forum image posting rules apply. Your images should be no more than 600 pixels on the longest edge, and no more than 100kB in size. The FirstView Gallery software will automatically resize any images that are more than 600 pixels on either edge, but it won't prevent anything over 100kB being uploaded, so you will still need to keep an eye on this.

The 'Polaroid' motif is a deliberate one. It typifies the ethos of FirstView, in that the images are 'as taken', not tampered with, not edited, post-processed, sweated over, framed or touched up in any way. They are straight from the camera and into the archive. FirstView is about life not art, it's a snapshot of the first day of the month, forever...
